Do you know what one of the most overused item that is legal is? You may not think it is a drug and it is Sugar. (This is my opinion only)

Let’s think about it … how many forms of sugar can be listed on the labels? There is the plain form: sugar, fruit sugars, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, honey, fructose, molasses and fruit juice concentrate. (http://www.womenshealthmag.com/food/different-names-for-sugar ) This isn’t the full list of the names.

What can we find it in that we wouldn’t expect to find sugar in: Breakfast Cereals, Sushi, Commercial Sauces & Soups, Frozen Yoghurt, Bread and these are only some. (http://eluxemagazine.com/magazine/hidden-sugars-in-10-common-foods/ )

So what do we do? We need to have some in our bodies, but what happens if we eat healthy? And when I say healthy I mean making homemade spaghetti sauce instead of straight canned sauce. Sounds like a pain in the backside but there is a trick to it.

I use a crockpot. A crockpot is a slow cooker that is a lifesaver in so many ways. I can cut up some onions, garlic, throw in some spices and fry up some extra lean beef and get a large jar of plain tomato sauce. Throw it all in, tiny (less than a 1/8 of teaspoon of olive oil) and flip it on high and go to work.

This is the easiest way to make food and when you get home you have a nice dinner. The way the crockpot works is to cook slow and it tastes so much better.

Now are you ready for a shock: The US Government has people that are lobbying for SUGAR. The World Health Organization was going to put a report out in 2004 but the US Government told them to remove the part of the sugar recommendation or they wouldn’t pay them the money that they promised.

The World Health Organization has a website that you should check out. It will tell you so much on what is good and guess what it is outside the US. The link is http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2015/sugar-guideline/en/. I would suggest that you read some of the articles.
