What if I told you….

What if I told you that the food you eat might not be as good for you as you think? What if I told you that the tray you used to carry lunch from the line to the table had antibiotics in it? What if I told you that due to the amount of antibiotics used is causing things to get worse instead of better?

This is a cautionary message but one that needs to get out. Why do you think that the world is getting fatter when we have been on a fitness craze for about 30 years now.

There are some facts that you need to know about me. First off I believe that Mother Nature can provide more natural medicine than the doctors.  Second off I have seen first hand the damage that medicine can do. Third off this is my opinion.

If you drink soy milk, look at what is in it. You might be in for a shock. Would you believe there is sugar in soy milk? Here is an image of the label of one that I found online and I was shocked. sk_qt_van_nlea Yes you are seeing it correctly, cane sugar. What about baby formula? That should be safe right? similac-label-ingredients This is Similac’s label. Wait a minute I see two right off the bat that are sugar or sugar alternatives. Lets check another brand. 3a961f5a-a815-4dcc-9529-1ea8e6f10d0e_1-33ad1440b8bd58097d1904c2a2a6b6d7 This is Gerber. (Can you pronounce half of these?)  OK so we know that there sweetener or sugar in everything from baby formula to soy milk to soda pop and things like Kool-Aid. What about Gatorade? It is supposed to help rehydrate you when you are over heated. Should be good for you right? gatorade_perform_ll Wait a minute… Sugar is the second item on it!

The World Health Organization says that we should have less than 10% of our daily calorie intake from sugars but it is everywhere! Care to know why? The Sugar people have lobbyist in Washington DC and they put pressure on the government that they would lose money if that got out so Washington DC told the World Health Organization that they wouldn’t pay them the annual payment of approx. $400 billion if they kept that information in their report. So we never got the information.

What about antibiotics? They should be good for you right? Not if we abuse them. This is what I mean, if you get a cold it is a virus not a bacterial infection so going to the doctor and getting antibiotics for it will do no good. Staying home and getting some rest is what you need to do. If you get an infected cut from a rusty nail then go to the doctor and they will treat the infection with an antibiotic. Using a hand sanitizer that is mostly rubbing alcohol is good but antibacterial soap is going to put a small amount of antibiotics in your system.  There are natural soaps that will get you just as clean as the antibacterial soaps do. They are just made with what nature has.

Your body has certain bacteria in it to help you do things like digest the food you are eating. When you take an antibiotic that is what the doctors call a broad spectrum antibiotic they are basically killing all  the bacteria in your body, including the ones that help with getting the nutrition in your system from the food you eat.

The more a bacteria is exposed to antibiotics it gets stronger and soon the medication doesn’t work. The medical field will call it medication resistant bacteria and that is when we run into trouble. If you get an infection with one of those strains of medication resistant bacteria and your body is not strong enough then you are going to have some serious problems.

So what do you do to start healing your body to prevent the problems? Go back to nature… sounds kinda gross some might think but I can create a full meal for my family for under $10. This can be curry ginger chicken with rice and veggies. I use a crock pot for a lot of what I cook. I go to the store and get real ginger root and use that instead of the powder. istock_000011557058large fresh chicken, curry powder and a bit of low salt chicken bouillon and water. Let it cook for 8 hours and make fresh rice and veggies that get steamed and it is wonderful. Toss in fresh garlic and fresh onion and your house will smell wonderful and you have a nice meal for less than going to McDonalds and feeding them.
