A Country of Freedom…

This is supposed to be a country of freedom so why is it that big business trying to run it in a way that isn’t the best for the people. Why are we having to fight to find out the truth about what is being done in the country that is supposed to be for our good? This isn’t the right way.

As an Army Veteran, I have seen the challenges that can come from people who don’t understand the way that the United States is supposed to work. I spent time in Germany when I was in the Army and saw the devastation that was caused when a person who is a megalomaniac ran loose.

I will be quoting from the Constitution of the United States, Bill of Rights and other Amendments to the Constitution that are important. This is information that we all need to know. I have copies of them on my computer due to the Windows 10 store and free apps.

The first thing that we need to remember is that this government is ‘We the people of the United States …‘ this is not a country that is to be run by a single person who has to have the attention on them. It is to represent the people and with that the people’s will. So when the current President of the United States tries to put a travel ban in place we need to show that this country wants one of freedom for all. If they try to do so, we have several abilities that can put the breaks on it. One is  from the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights.  The first amendment says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press or of the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

So right now we have some ‘technical issues’ as I like to say with what the current President is trying to do. By trying to ban or ‘extreme vetting’ of people from specific countries he is breaking this law. When I say ‘technical issues’ it is my way of saying that the person needs to rethink what they are doing or they have a though process error.

The first one that the President tried was shot down by the 9th district circuit court due to it being unconstitutional. So he is trying it again and it is being challenged by Hawaii even before it goes into effect.

The second one that I want to point  out is  In the Constitution of the United States in Section 7. The reason is that we are having to deal with things that need closer examination and it doesn’t seem to be happening. The section that I am quoting is “Ever Order, Resolution, or Vote to which the Concurrence of the Senate and the House of Representatives may be necessary (exception on a question of Adjournment) shall be presented to the President of the United States: and before the Same shall take Effect, shall be approved by him or being disapproved by him, shall be repassed by two thirds of the Senate and the House of Representatives, according to the rules and limitations prescribed in the Case of a Bill.

Now you may think that this is an odd one but in order to make something the law of the land it has to go through a set process. I don’t see that happening. What I see happening is the current President sending through ‘Executive Orders’ and bypassing the process. This is not the way the country should be run.

What is an executive order?
Basically, an executive order is an official statement from the president about how the federal agencies he oversees are to use their resources.

It falls under the broader umbrella of “executive actions,” which derive their power from Article II of the Constitution, and it is the most formal executive action. Executive actions also include presidential memorandums (which are a step below executive orders and basically outline the administration’s position on a policy issue), proclamations and directives.

An executive order is not the president creating new law or appropriating new money from the U.S. Treasury — both things that are the domain of Congress; it is the president instructing the government how it is to work within the parameters that are already set by Congress and the Constitution.( https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/01/27/what-is-an-executive-order-and-how-do-president-trumps-stack-up/?utm_term=.a07d9e573604 )

So the question has to become, has the President overstepped his bounds by the way that he is doing things? That is something that needs to be figured out and fast.

What can we do – as the regular person who wants our voice to be heard? Contact your local Representative and Senator – do it by email, snail mail or call them. Let them know that you have a concern about what is going on. Get a copy of the Constitution and all the bills that go with it. You can contact the Library of Congress or find a copy at http://download.cnet.com/Free-US-Constitution/3000-20412_4-10549382.html

I did a google search for freedownloads of the constitution and got About 409,000 results (0.48 seconds) so it is out there and easy to get. Talk to your friends, send letters, share this, talk with the local press.

As long as it is peaceful we can get together and assemble to let our voices be heard.
