What is more important … Health Care or Tax Breaks or Personal Beliefs?

What is more important to you? Health Care or Tax Breaks? Why are these questions important today?

I worry about the way that this country is going. The simple fact is that if those who are going to write legislation that hurt most of the people should have to deal with those problems. When I hear that the government wants to pass a bill that says a pre-existing condition that they can’t get medical then I worry in a big way. What happens to people who don’t have a choice on this issue? There are born with conditions that are easy to be seen, others that may not be so easy to be seen but need long term care – are they any less important than a person who is born healthy? No!

The thing is that everyone is here for a reason. The gods don’t put a soul in a body for it to be wasted. We don’t need to be perfect, those who are physically challenged may have other skills that people can use. If you look at a person like Stephen Hawking, he is in a wheelchair with ALS but he is also a theoretical physicist. (Stephen Hawking before ALS) (Stephen Hawking with President Obama) When he met with President Obama he was getting the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009.

When you look at some of the recent things that have been attempted to get through congress, you find that the tax breaks are for the top 1% and that programs that can help those of the lower income get hurt by it. If you are wanting to get the people to be healthy and strong then you need to balance this graph out in a big way. Giving the tax breaks to the ones that need it and make those who can afford it pay more. Now we need to work to balance this graph out in a big way.

I see history wanting to repeat itself and that worries me. We have been there before and it turned out very bad for a lot of people. Do we really need to suffer this hell again to get it through people’s heads that we all have the same DNA, we all have a reason for being here and we need to have a voice that can be heard.

German Jewish poet Heinrich Heine said this during the book burnings in Germany in the 1930’s “Dort, wo man Bücher verbrennt, verbrennt man am Ende auch Menschen”: “Where they burn books, they will also ultimately burn people.” (https://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php?ModuleId=10005852) He was very right when he said that.

We need to wake up and stop this from happening again! Can you find somewhere that you would fit in? I know that there are a lot of people that would pass away if this would happen again.

Play the Game … ‘Opening Your Mind’

I want to challenge each person to play the game of “Opening your mind”. This isn’t a board game that you go out and buy … this is changing your perception of the world. I have a series of things that royally irritate me that the younger people do. I would love to see just one person change their perception on how they behave and try to make the world a better place.

First off here is a word to image association for the first thing. When I say ‘disabled’ what do most people think of? However, there are other people that are disabled that people say, ‘Get a Job’ to or that they are slackers. When I think of a person with a disability, my thoughts are of a person with mental challenges, one that is blind, or one that has pain issues.

If a person is in pain, how can you rate that compared to what you feel? Does the ‘universal’ pain scale really work? In some senses yes the universal pain scale does work and not at 100% . For a person like me a ten might be very different than a twenty something person.

When you see a person struggling, do you help them or do you keep going? If a person was trying to get their groceries up the stairs, would you help or walk by? If you did help them would you do it for free or would you expect something in return?

This is where people need to open their minds just a bit. If your only reason to help someone is to get something in return then your reason for helping is wrong. If you help the person for no other reason than to help the person, then your mindset is one that I applaud. Those with the mindset of helping a person for the general reason to help someone are the ones that will show the respect of helping a disable person is rare now a day.

I get frusterated when I see the young kids who won’t help because they aren’t getting something in return. Whatever happened to pride of doing something for the simple reason of helping them? Where is the pride of making something with your own hands only to donate it to a person that has need of it.

One of the things that I do is crochet blankets. My husband and I don’t need tons so each winter I send them to the otherside of the mountains and to my Grandma. She from there gives them to the local churches and they can get them to the people in need. When I hear that people got them and they are having something warm in the cold of winter that is my reward.

So, what is your sense of pride in? Is it in computers? Is it working with wood? Can you turn what you have pride into something that will help the community?

If we open our eyes and open our hearts then we can help others and get the sense of pride back. It can be making sure a person has a good meal that is in your complex or neighborhood. Maybe it is something as simple as taking someone’s garbage out for them when they aren’t expecting it. It could be calling a person that you know that lives near you and saying “Hey, I wanted to let you know that I haven’t seen you out of the apartment, are you OK?” Or offering to get them something at the store that they need.

Giving of yourself will give you the best sense of pride in the world. It doesn’t have to cost anything, just your desire to show someone that they are special.

Try it and see how you feel – it is a better high than any drug or booze can ever give. The more you do it the more you feel that natural high and the more you want to help others.

Climate Reality … AKA ‘I’m Melting’!!!

Ok, this is my sense of humor on a serious problem.

I have lived in the greater Seattle area most of my life and over the last few years have noticed that people still drive cars to and from every day. We have one of the best public transportation systems in the area and there is no reason that you should drive three blocks to the store to get two things. We have feet for walking.

Now it is not even July and it is super freaking hot. We are supposed to hit the 90’s in the temperature area and I am feeling like I am going to melt! I remember when it lucky if we got into the 80’s in August but this is where I get frustrated.

There are people that say that ‘Climate Change isn’t happening’. My suggestion is that they look at what the planet is saying! The ocean currents work to keep the planet cool. The warmer the water, the stronger the storms (Katrina, Sandy etc.} and if the ice melts in the North Pole then we have no way to cool the water and cool the planet. We have polar bears that have been found dead in the water from drowning (they can swim for an hour with no problem!) so the ice is a serious issue.

Another ‘technical issue’ is that if you dump that much fresh water into the sea, the ocean currents will shut down because it will be warmer and the ocean currents need to cool the water by warming places like Britain and the colder water would drop and head back down to the equator to get warm and cool the planet.

This doesn’t talk about the water rising or any of the other fun issues that will happen. Can we say, “CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL!!!!”

Call your people in government and tell them to promote green jobs and public transportation!

We have one planet and that is this one – stop hurting it!!!

Some Basic Answers to Comments … (Update at the Bottom)

I get a lot of questions about the writing of the blogs and other general information so I thought I would answer them to the best of my ability here.

One of the questions that I get a lot of the time is have I ever thought of doing an e-book? The answer is that I have some stories on Amazon as well as a small book on Amazon as well. I have been writing stories for most of my life. I still write and am trying to get enough interest going to possibly get some funds out of it as well.

Another question is the fact that people want me to email them for advice or to do an ‘interview’ with them on the blog post that I do. I have tried to email them and I use the email address on the site and the emails comeback as invalid email address. If you want me to contact you, please use the contact information. If you want to email me, then please do so at lisaa9110@gmail.com.

The other ones are more of a technical nature. The way I have my site set up is everything goes to the spam filter and then I go through and must and approve the comments before they go on the site. I do this to prevent people from trying to sell things on it. The other wonderful thing is that I get to do the translations of the ones that are in another language. I use Google Translate so if there are mistakes then I am truly sorry. The way that I do this is copy and paste the comment into Google Translate and then click on translate to English. Then I copy and paste the translation back into the main comment underneath the original text.

Those that want to follow me on Twitter, I would love it. If you are using WordPress and want to link your site to your Twitter, then go to the configure and click on sharing and it will show you all the sites that you can connect it to. There are mobile versions of WordPress applications and that helps a lot.

Update:

I have 2 books on Amazon and 4 or 5 short stories if you want to see some of my writing style on other things.

A Super Yummy and Healthy Meal

I had the fun of making a meal that was super yummy on Sunday and was even better on Monday. I made teriyaki steak stir fry for dinner. {Warning: Super Hunger May Happen}

I made fresh white rice in a cooker with a minor (very minor) pinch of salt. There were fresh scallions, green onion, garlic, that were heated in a bit of olive oil and lemon juice. Add in a bit of ground ginger and once everything was warmed a bit add the stir fry steak and cook mostly. Then add fresh mushroom, broccoli, cauliflower and sugar snap peas. Coat with as small amount of teriyaki sauce as needed to lightly coat veggies and add a bit of water to steam veggies. When everything is cooked (I prefer the veggies extra crisp), remove from heat and add toasted coconut if you want and enjoy.

The reason that this is super healthy is the veggies can be any that you like and have them be fresh and the fresher the better. The lemon juice is an activator that will bring all the flavors together and it is one that you can add things to and still have a fun dinner.

The total cost if you go to the stores that I do is less than $25.00 for everything and the meal last three days. When you get all the nutrition value by minorly steaming food instead of cooking it to daylights means that your body can use more of the nutrition and you feel better.
