“King Leonidas: The world will know that free men stood against a tyrant, that few stood against many, and before this battle was over, even a god-king can bleed.” 1 Why start this post with a quote from a movie, because it is important if you look at what he said.
While the Spartan culture has long passed, we need to look at the mindset of the people like King Leonidas when he made that statement. When the few free men stand and get ready for battle even if it isn’t a physical battle it can be one that people still remember. We have the ability to have our voices heard. If three people tell three friends the truth and they listen and understand it, then they will tell three people each and soon it becomes a major conversation.
When we become a voice then we force the people that try to make the decisions to listen to what we have to say. If they don’t then we get ready mentally for a conflict and we become more and more the Spartans in mindset. “King Leonidas: Give them nothing, but take from them, everything!” 1
How do we do this? The people of the United States and the world have the ability to use not only our voices but the vote to change who is in the office to represent us. This is one of the Ancient Greek gifts that they gave us. Ancient Greece was one of the places where Democracy started.
