When someone doesn’t want the truth …

What do you do when a person doesn’t want to hear the truth? When they are so determined to only listen to what they think is the truth that when they walk away from information that is from a good source? How do you combat that? How do you show the person the facts and the truth is different than what they think?

This is a quest that we will take tonight.

I have a person who is a friend, who says they are of the Christian Belief (and I do believe them) yet they are so sure that the people of the Muslim faith are trying to take over the United States and that we are all going to be living under Sharia Law soon that they will leave during a conversation when I bring proof that things aren’t what they are believe.

The person is blind, so we get together to do things of research that they have questions on. When we do these research projects, I always try to make sure that the sources are very reliable. I will go to University sites, if it is on a specific group, I will go to the web site and try to see what the information that they are putting out.

The first topic they wanted to find out about was a red-green alliance. The site I found with the best information on was an abstract on the topic from https://www.start.umd.edu/publication/emerging-red-green-alliance-where-political-islam-meets-radical-left – this is the University of Maryland. What I found about the alliance and I am going to quote from the abstract “No matter how unlikely it may seem, radical Leftists and Islamists have come closer in recent years. Drawing on substantial ideological interchange, and operating at both state and non-state levels, the two movements are building a Common Front against the United States and its allies. In this article, we use framing theory to examine the contemporary convergence of political Islam and the radical Left.” There is more to the abstract and there seems to be some concern. Then they wanted to find out about someone that he had heard on the radio. So, we looked up the person and found that it was Congressman Andre’ Carson. He is a congressman from Indiana’s 7th District. (https://carson.house.gov/) and we did some research on some of his press releases and there was one that caught my attention for a good reason. My friend seemed shocked to hear it. His statement was about Ramadan and I will quote it for you and give the link. The reason is that it not what some would expect (definitely not what my friend was expected.) May 6, 2019 Press Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Congressman André Carson (D-IN), one of three Muslim members of the U.S. Congress, released the statement below commemorating the beginning of Ramadan, a sacred month of fasting in the Islamic faith: “I’m wishing a Ramadan Kareem to Muslims observing Ramadan in Indiana, across America and around the world. This sacred time of fasting and sacrifice is a special opportunity for a diverse community of Muslims worldwide to grow closer to our faith and each other, and to reflect on our many blessings. Let us also make this holy month an occasion to recommit ourselves to living out the values of Islam. That includes fighting poverty, promoting peace, stamping out inequality wherever it exists, and more. Together, as a global community, we can achieve these goals, with our faith as our guide.” (https://carson.house.gov/newsroom/press-releases/congressman-andr-carson-statement-on-the-beginning-of-ramadan)

The reason that I bring this to people’s attention is that if you look at what he is talking about fighting poverty, promoting peace and things of that nature.

The reason I bring this up in this message was due to the fact that the person who had asked me to look this up due to the fact that they were sure that the Muslim were going to try to take over Congress and then up to the President of the United States and then we are all going to have to live under Sharia Law.

There are some things that we need to see. First off, what is Sharia Law? I found some interesting information on it at https://ing.org/a-closer-look-at-sharia-in-the-united-states/ I am going to quote from this site but you should really take a look at it. “The term Sharia comes from an Arabic word meaning “path to the water,” which reflects the concept that Sharia is divine guidance drawn mainly from the Qur’an and Sunnah (teachings and guidance of Prophet Muhammad) for the purpose of helping humanity draw close to God and live in kindness and justice with His Creation. The term Sharia is used by Muslims to refer to the values, code of conduct, and religious commandments or sacred laws which provide them with guidance in various aspects of life.”

When you look at the concept of the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States in the “Bill of Rights” we are given the “Freedom of Religion” The country was based on a specific set of freedoms. There is no reason that anyone should assume that the “Freedom of Religion” is for Christians only. There is no reason that people should judge a person based on their belief. This country was for all to be free to worship in what ways that they want.
